This was the result of spending a month hanging out at a local tattoo studio - I'm quite unhappy with how illustrative my art has become since then and am having second thoughts about a career in tattooing as I will be catering to the requests of others (and I don't want to spend two years as an apprentice tattooing stars and playboy bunnies on teenage girls) and I'm worried that art will lose its meaning to me, like it has in the past month. I'm definitely not pleased at all with the influence the tattoo studio has had on my work - this piece is not my favourite.
Reminds me of Rosaleen Norton... but way too structured and stiff, even with the suggestion of symmetry that dissolves when you look closer... But I like it - you're right, a coloured tat would make it live
THIS is amazing. Why not tatt what ppl want and in the meantime keep drawing and even post what you draw where other's can see it while getting tattoo'd with something simple. Honestly this is amazing. Even without color..Just adding darker and lighter contrasts would make it POP or color behind it or even just a bit of color to the flowers? I love to paint but my drawing skills look like a five yr olds next to this. If i had the money i'd love this as a tattoo as i have 2 sisters. You've been blessed with a talent I envy.
Thank you!! I think that's the best comment I've ever had for my artwork. There really is no depth in it though, I agree that maybe a bit of colour might add a bit of contrast. This piece was always meant to be an idea sketch anyway, but I still haven't got round to re working it. But anyway thanks for the comment, much appreciated!
You know what i did? I put it in paint shop and did a 'clarify' which made the dark darker and it really popped. I don't think you realize how talented you really are.
We love horses, we love drawing, we love gifts, AND we love Christmas. We're gonna combine all that to make Christmas 2009 on dA a seriously awesome one!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
